Helpside is excited to announce the addition of Jesse Oakeson as Director of Human Resources and as an in-house legal counsel. Jesse joins Helpside with extensive HR experience and a strong knowledge of the small-business legal environment.
After graduating from BYU’s law school in 2009, Jesse worked for ten years in the litigation department of Utah’s oldest law firm, Jones Waldo. While there, he handled a variety of employment law issues and was a shareholder and a member of the firm’s board of directors. He frequently presents on employment law topics to HR professionals and managers and is an active member of the Salt Lake chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management and serves as a board member of the Northern Utah Human Resources Association.
Jesse is skilled at breaking down complex legal situations and consulting with business leaders on best practices to limit liability in areas such as wrongful termination, FMLA and other difficult employer-compliance areas. His ability to provide training on complex human resource issues and minimize exposure to legal pitfalls will benefit Helpside’s internal team and its clients.
Through his work with hundreds of business owners over the years, Jesse is uniquely positioned to provide advice to Helpside’s clients about the small-business legal environment. He brings a new perspective to the Helpside Human Resources team that will elevate the level of consultation provided to their small-business partners.
“I am grateful to join the Helpside team,” Jesse says. “For nearly thirty years, Helpside has empowered its clients to focus on their core business. I’m excited to use my legal experience to allow Helpside’s clients to confidently focus on what they do best and leave their human resources tasks to us.”
Jesse has four kids, ages ten, seven, five and three. He lives in Draper, Utah, where he loves to run and mountain bike. He is looking forward to meeting a number of clients over the next few months.
