If you’ve ever experienced panic or extreme fear, you might have an idea of what people with anxiety disorders deal with on a daily basis. Even if you don’t have an anxiety disorder, everyone experiences anxiety at times in their lives. Dealing with anxiety in the workplace can feel like an uphill battle at times. Here are ways you can help your employees dealing with anxiety in the workplace:

Discuss

Ignoring anxiety in your workplace or leaving employees to deal with it alone is not helpful to the overall mental health and performance of your company. Take time to talk with all your employees about their stressors. Talking about stress with your employees will help you to recognize warning signs for anxiety and burn out. Additionally, it will make it easier for employees to come to you with problems if they know you care about their worries.

Be Flexible

Flexibility is a benefit that most employees want but will especially make a huge difference for employees dealing with anxiety. Having flexible hours can help employees with anxiety take care of their mental health while still putting their best foot forward at work. Make sure to create clear expectations and processes for flexible work to prevent extra stress from creeping in.

Create Support

Having a support network can be very helpful for employees. Find ways to create bonding experiences in teams so all of your employees can feel connected and supported. Introducing mentorship programs can also be helpful to teach employees new skills and make them feel more secure in their job.

Taking care of your employee’s mental health is just as important as taking care of their physical health. Use this advice to better support your employees with anxiety.
