This time of year you will hear the term Open Enrollment in the news, among friends, and especially at work. So what is Open Enrollment, anyway? Open Enrollment provides an opportunity for benefits participants to make changes to benefit plans that are not allowed at other times during the year. For many benefits options that time falls toward the end of the year.
For any of the benefits offered through Helpside, the Open Enrollment period for 2023 is from November 1, 2022 – November 17, 2022.
Changes that may be made include:
-
Eligible employees may enroll in new benefits.
-
Employees may cancel or change their existing benefit options.
-
Employees may add eligible dependents to existing benefits.
This time of year is important because employees who fail to make changes or enroll by 10:00pm (MST) on November 18, 2021 will have to wait until the next open enrollment period unless they have a qualifying event.
Additionally, this time period is the only opportunity existing employees who work for a company offers a flexible spending account are able to enroll in the 2022 Flexible Spending Account and Dependent Care Account. FSA enrollments do not roll over year to year. You must enroll each year that you would like to participate.
